Intro to EFT: Stress Reduction (and more) at Your Fingertips

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is a stress reduction technique that involves gently tapping on certain acupuncture points on the face and body (no needles required!!) while tuning in to what’s stressing you out.  This could be a problem, situation, emotion, body sensation, or trigger.

Tapping reduces the stress hormone, cortisol, in the body.  Check out these research findings from the American Psychological Association.

By tapping on acupressure points while focusing on a particular problem, you are associating calm with that problem. Essentially, you are training your body to respond more calmly the next time you face that problem/trigger. Relaxing like this can result in shifts in your thinking that help you move forward toward your goals and enjoy the journey along the way! EFT is a fascinating and effective combination of ancient Chinese acupressure (the tapping part) and modern psychology (the talking and tuning in to your concerns).


What can I use tapping for?

I personally love using tapping to help to accomplish my goals by identifying and addressing what holds me back.  I’ve found it very helpful in clarifying my goals and letting go of negative self-talk and limiting beliefs.  Tapping is my go-to resource for dealing with anxiety and stress.  I can do it anywhere!  It’s easy and effective.
